Sleepingcities Mural

This drawing on walls is a whole new ball game.
It's been lots of fun so far, a few challenges
and aching bones (having to draw whilst lying on the floor is real tricky).
I'm still undecided what to do the the upper section, so I'm leaving it for now.
Maybe I'll add some words?
In the meantime I still have all the detail and the brilliant orange to add...

A new challenge!

Now I've completed my 100th Facebook Doodle,
I thought it time I go back to my drawing my cities.
I needed a new challenge and this white wall seems the perfect canvas.

It's early stages but already it's taking shape.
Haven't quite decided how it's going to finish up, but there's plenty of drawing to do in the meantime....

A Decoding Challenge

I love a bit of decryption.
I started this as a doodle, but it took a little longer than expected.
Can you decipher the message?

An apology to my Blog....

I've been very neglectful of late.
Little did I realise how my Daily Doodle would take over my drawing life.
I guess with putting the word 'Daily' in the title I should have known.

It also occured to me that not everyone wants to use Facebook.
So for you, I thought I'd share some of my Doodles.

First Commission of the Year!

It's been a quiet few months.
My blogging has been a bit slack!
I'm always drawing though. Promise.
Thought you may like to see my first commission of this year.
I was thrilled to do it and really pleased with the results.
It took me ages however!

Happy Birthday Sleepingcities

Couldn't believe when I found an old sketchbook, that it was 3 years ago today that Sleepingcities was born. Check the bottom of the last picture for the date.
I hadn't really drawn much until then, but the Marrakesh skyline possessed me from the start and I guess, still possesses me to this day.

QR

The moment I saw a QR I knew I had to give it a go.
Totally mental wouldn't ya say?
If you have a QR application on your new phone you'll know what to do!
Instant, discrete, artistic advertising for the new dimensional world.

Facebook Thievery

There's not many companies that can take a letter and make it its own.
Type "f" in google, and "Facebook" is the first word that it self predicts.
Draw an "f" in a border surrounded by blue and you know exactly what you're seeing.
Spell checker even suggests using a commanding capital when spelling Facebook!
They have well and truly nabbed it.

That said, did I mention I do a daily doodle on my Facebook page?

Daily Doodle On Facebook

Everyday I shall be posting a daily doodle.
Not sure why really, just thought it would be fun.
There'll be all sorts of designs, some with no buildings in at all.
This will be available only to my FaceBook fans, so head over to my Facebook page and get following. You are very welcome.
See you on the otherside!

Liberty

I couldn't ignore probably one of the most famous statues.
Liberty was real tricky though.
Work in progress!

Hello Kitty

Drawing small fluffy characters isn't really my thing
but it's a relative's birthday and as
she's a massive Hello Kitty Fan, I thought I would make an exception.
I hope she likes it!
Happy 30-something-ish Birthday Jac!

Self Portrait

This was a real fun challenge.
Even if it did take all weekend and send me crazy.
If you close one eye and really blur the other (!!) you can see that it really is a grinning me!

Buddha Stage 1

Thought I'd give a Buddha the sleepingcities treatment.
Am suffering from RSI now!

Vintage Valentines 2

This card would have been handmade and sent from the lady to her man.
She has 'chosen' him over the others, telling him this by simply writing 'Preference' on the inside.

Vintage Valentines 1

I love giving my wife antique cards for Valentines, this one is from the early 1900.
It translates (roughly) as:

"I die or I stick,
A kiss, it is a pleasure.
It is a whole happiness
It is the unquestionable pledge,
The bond of our hearts"

Message for Valentines 3

Really enjoying this nautical mania. Bit of semaphore this time.
It reads 'I Love You'.

What with Valentines Day fast approaching,
I thought I'd get a few of my designs printed exclusively for a select few (yes, thats you).
They're £3 each and I'll even throw in free P&P. Nice.

Message for Valentines 4

This weird image popped into my head the other day.
My wife was slightly alarmed that she'd been confined to a bottle and was part of an experiment to extract her goddess qualities. And all for money too!
I told her it was romantic.
I thought it wise not to draw a bunsen burner underneath her.

Keep Calm...

Old hat I know, but I've been meaning to do my version of the
ridiculously popular 'Keep Calm and Carry On' for ages now.
Today, I kept calm and drew.

This is now available from my Folksy shop!!

Wednesday 19 January 2011

Message for Valentines 2

I just couldn't resist continuing the nautical theme!
It reads 'I miss you'.

Messages For Valentines

Sleepingcities is prone to the odd romantic mood.
This is my first drawing for this years Valentines Day.
Can you decipher the message?

Patience

Can't believe it's been nearly a month since I last blogged!
Here's my first drawing of 2011.
Planning to do a few more in this style, maybe even Volume 2 of my Colouring Book Range, this time using the alphabet. That's gonna keep my busy for a while.
Well, Happy New Year to you all. Let's make this year one to remember.
